After graduation from Marmion Military Academy (Aurora, IL) Chuck joined the Army at age 17 as a Private. He served as an MP in Colorado and Korea before attending Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA where he also attended Parachute Jump School. He was then assigned to the First Division at Ft. Riley, KS, where he met Carol. They were married on February 3, 1962 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS.

He also attended the Senior Executive Management Program (University of Houston), The Brookings Institution Program for Business Policy and Operations; Total Quality Management Program, George Washington University; Executive Systems Management, MIT; and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

During his 32 years of active service, he served in increasingly responsible roles, changing from Infantry to Quartermaster where he became a Logistics Expert. His final assignment before retirement was as the Commanding General of the global Army Commissary. Under his command, new sales growth exceeded $2 billion dollars. He instituted a training program that was cited as one of the best in the U S Army.

He was honored by Outstanding Young Men of America; received the Defense Superior Service Medal for Exceptional Performance (US Department of Defense highest peacetime award), Hall of Fame inductee, the Infantry School, Ft. Benning, GA. He started a business (Systems Connect) , and wrote frequent articles for the Savannah Morning news. He was a frequent speaker on Internet related subjects for local business associations, University of Georgia and Savannah State University. Systems Connect was awarded the Small Business of the Year (Chamber of Commerce) and Best Small Business Owner (Savannah Business Institute). He was an active volunteer for Legends of Golf and a member of American Legion Post . His late in life passion for photography led to a published historical pictoral book on Bonaventure Cemetery.

He is survived by Carol, his loving and faithful wife, of 52 years and two children: Jenifer (Brent) Patera and Jon C. (Justine) St. Arnaud and 4 grandchildren: Christopher (Mother, Marie) and Brianne St. Arnaud and Matthew and Cameron Patera, his sister Deborah (John) Ruggiero, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

I have lost a true Friend an the most professnal person I have had the privlage to work or serve with. Chuck was always on top of the situation whether on the fields of Vietnsm or on the campus at the University of Richmond. A fathfull partner that you could always depend on. No question were he resides today to continue watch over us all. "CHUCK, THANKS"

- Maj Gen (R) Tom Arwood, Hot Springs Village, AR

I met Chuck about 15 years ago when SysConn developed our web site. He was always smart, incisive and friendly. He had a great genuine smile. I fondly remember chatting with him at the JEA over the years, Hecwas always genuinely interested in was up to, and often had great advice to impart. Chuck was a warm, humane guy. I will remember him fondly.

- Jeff Kole, Savanbah, GA.

I was lucky enough to have Uncle Chuck in my life thru marriage. I am married to Carol's sister's son , Jim Greenlees. Getting to know the St Arnaud's over the past 35 years has been a wonderful blessing , as I feel that they are one of reasons Jim and I are still happily married. Witnessing the commitment that Uncle Chuck had to family, country , community , and friends was a gift I will always cherish , and in him a role model to both myself and my family. My love for him started when he along with Carol always opened their home to us , wherever they may have been residing . Whether is was New York City , San Francisco, Washington DC, we were young broke kids going on free vacations with views ot the Verranzano and Golden Gate Bridge, and always being welcomed with open arms. Watching Uncle Chuck watch Auntie Carol was amazing. The commitment he made to his country meant a lot a long trips away from his family. and he did it with such grace as he knew his partner would cover the slack. As the years went on, and children and grandchildren came along for us and Uncle Chuck and Carol, we didn't get to visit nearly as much, but every time I did have the pleasure, I always felt a connection to Uncle Chuck. He helped me tremendously when acquiring the accounting practice I had worked at for many years, buy coaching me and giving me the confidence in feeling good about my future. How lucky we have all been to have had him in our world. I was always in awe about not only what he accomplished in his life, but how he got there. One of my favorite books written by Tom Brokaw " The Greatest Generation" depicts heros older than my Uncle Chuck. I'll bet he's been exclusively invited to hang with them and they are sharing stories of our great country. My prayers and thoughts are with the St Arnaud family as life without is not going to be easy. I am so sorry for your loss. We all know that this wonderful man will be with us always.

- Mary Greenlees , Ormond Beach, Florida

Chuck was the first person to introduce me to the idea of the internet. We have been friendly with Chuck and Carol since we moved to Savannah. We all joined newcomers club and have remained friend for a long time. We will always remember him as a jovial, knowledgeable friend. We could always ask him about historic facts about Savannah and about all his different projects. I can see him sitting in his garage working on different projects. He will be missed. Roni & Harvey Libow.

- Roni & Harvey Libow, Savannah, GA

Chuck and I first met in the 5th grade at St. Nicholas School in Aurora. We seemed to be a match almost immediately. I remember spending time with him in the upstairs apartment cross cornered from St. Nicholas Bowling alley during his 5th and 6th grade years. He transferred to St. Therese as a 7th grader but that didn't stop our friendship as we didn't allow the distance to stop our bond. We both enrolled at the only Catholic high school available for boys in the Aurora area, Marmion Military Academy. We both did what we had to do to graduate. I always told everyone that Chuck and I entered as privates and left four years later as privates. Marmion did give us both a great background to be successful in life. The following September Chuck joined the Army and with my infinite wisdom thought he was making a mistake. He definitely proved me wrong. When Chuck moved to Trask St. he befriended a small group of boys from that area and soon I was included. Eventually two other boys joined the group to form what was referred to as "The Hungry Eight". From that group of eight a foursome with the two new members and Chuck and me became as one. Many of my fondest memories center around Butch, Ken, Chuck and my activities. I spent 45 years coaching baseball and basketball all from an initial suggestion from Chuck. I don't believe he thought I was a very good player myself and could better serve the games from the coaching box. He was probably right. Carol & Family I will include Chuck in my prayers and have a Mass said for him. I wish I could make it down there for the services as it really saddens my heart knowing I cannot be there. Don

Dear Carol, I just heard and am so shocked and saddened. I didn't realize he was so ill. Even though I am so far away, I am here for anything you need. Just call me. You know I am up at all hours of the night. (smile) I also have free flights now and can come at a moments notice. I did so enjoy his photos. And I am so glad I got to know him while I was visiting you folks. 52 years is still not enough. Love ya, Shirley

Chuck was so much fun to be with, to share jokes, to perform auctions with, and just play golf with. Always thinking of others, whenever the Army was featuring a fun event at Hunter AAF, he would invite everyone to join him, using his VIP status, seating was always the best. He will truly be missed. Dear Heavenly Father, Please accept Chuck into Your loving arms. Quickly give him a position of great responsibility, so he won't try to take over your title for a day. Please be with his family and friends as we all morn his loss. We ask for these Blessings in Christ Name. Amen

I was certainly shocked to hear of Chucks passing. He was a Great Man, a fine example to all how to make the best of God's given talents in away that reflects and honors God. His leadership, kindness, and compassion have had a great impact on all who have come to know him. Chuck was a hard worker and lead by example, this I know from knowledge shared by my mother. He was a man That was highly respected! I regret that in my adult life, I was not able to personally meet Chuck and share our experiences from serving in the military and to compare our knowledge of family history. Well, he is with God now where he can put his skills and talents to use by serving his Master with all the glory he deserves! Love to Chucks family, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
